Djembe Fever! Arts Council England funded project to go digital...

Pre-pandemic, we were half way through delivering our community drumming and dance project in Derbyshire, Djembe Fever. We were welcoming families and groups of adults into our weekly sessions and we were busy co-creating our musical pieces to perform at Derbyshire-based festivals and events.

All of our plans came to an abrupt end with the arrival of Covid-19, and like so many other projects, we had to postpone events and wait to see if we could migrate our project to a digital format. Very uncertain times indeed!

Thanks to Arts Council England’s outstanding response to supporting individuals and Arts organisations, we can now welcome back our drummers and dancers into the project. We’re very happy to be once again welcoming our project participants into our drumming and dance workshops - with one change though - they’re all online! What a challenge this has been.

To join our classes (which will be recorded to support learning) find and join our drumming and dance group on Facebook. Here’s a link to the group. We’ll be making all announcements in the group and will be sharing progress with all members.

We’ll be practising for when we can showcase our drumming and dance pieces at Derbyshire festivals. Fingers crossed for September onwards!
