Connection Creativity Collaboration

BeatFeet have been providing energising drumming, dance and well-being workshops for over a decade throughout the UK. With a wealth of workshop leaders and event facilitators, who are all experts in their field, our workshops are guaranteed to engage, inspire and energise teams and learners. We work in many settings; including businesses, schools, Early Years Units, health care settings, festivals and within community-based organisations, such as Girl Guides, Scouts and local councils.

Each Beatfeet workshop and event is designed with three things in mind:

  • How can we help people to connect with others through the power of music?

  • How can we encourage innate creativity to surface so that our workshop participants leave feeling refreshed and energised?

  • How can we nurture the idea of collaboration through powerful metaphors embedded within our team drumming experiences?

We are well known for always get these elements exactly right for our clients, and this is why we are invited back to work with many groups year after year.

We are passionate about bringing groups of people together through group drumming and dance, and our wellbeing workshops complement any combination of genre too. All workshops can include elements of nurturing positive mental health and strengthening emotional resilience. We gradually move beyond the music and the dance to bring out the ‘humanness’ of us all.

About

Jude Winwood - Artistic Director

Beat feet 2016-52 copy.jpg

BeatFeet was founded by Artistic Director Jude Winwood, who spent most of her previous teaching career working in countries where community-inspired music making is well and truly at the joyful heart of culture and society. From having lived and worked on Reunion Island and on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, to Ethiopia and The Gambia, and then over on Martinique and Dominica in The Caribbean, Jude has always been in awe of the many ways that people all over the world use the positive power of music to bring people together. Music connects people and can remove any barriers to communicating effectively.

Jude is passionate about creating meaningful musical encounters through her work, and she instils this wonder and sentiment into BeatFeet’s workshop leaders, as they undertake training for their roles.

An unforgettable highlight of Jude’s career was being selected by Kensington Palace to coordinate a special drumming workshop for The Duchess of Cambridge in London. Jude was asked to facilitate a group drumming project for children experiencing poor mental health. It was a pleasure for Jude to drum alongside Kate Middleton and to spread her passion for the benefits of drumming with others. It was an honour for Jude to lead this project and to welcome Royalty into the drumming arena. Click here to view a clip of the Royal drumming workshop on YouTube.
